Information regarding your cost sharing in Switzerland.
The cost sharing for medical services varies depending on the reason for your stay in Switzerland. Persons with permanent residence pay an annual maximum fee, while persons who are staying temporarily, such as tourists, pay a flat-rate cost-sharing fee. This flat rate is calculated so that it corresponds to the legal cost sharing in Switzerland on an annual basis. This ensures that all persons, regardless of their place of residence, pay an equal share of costs.
You have to participate in the costs of your medical treatment. If you are staying temproarily in Switzerland this cost participation is charged as a lump sum. Further, in case of in-patient hospital treatment a daily contribution has to be paid by them.
This 30-day period for calculating cost sharing begins on the first day of treatment.
If the invoice is paid directly by the Gemeinsame Einrichtung KVG to the service provider (tiers payant), the cost sharing will be invoiced to you separately afterwards or deducted directly from the amount in the event of a reimbursement (tiers garant) and is only possible as long as the conditions of EU coordination law are met.
Legal basis:
Annex II of the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons, art. 17, 24, 26 Regulation (EC) No 883/2004, art. 24 Regulation (EC) No 987/2009
KVV Art. 103 and 104
